WEEE stands for the EU Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment. The Directive was approved by the European Union at Brussels on the 8th November 2002. The Directive states that organisations are now required to adopt environmentally friendly options for the clearance and disposal of redundant IT.
The WEEE Directive was transposed into UK law and came into force on 2nd January 2007.
