5 May 2009 : Recarta Wins Major XIV Deal |
|
Recarta IT, has won a major deal with a financial sector customer, using the new IBM XIV Storage System.
Recarta IT has added another feather to their cap and once again enhanced their reputation in the virtualisation and consolidation space. Using IBM’s next-generation in high-end open disk storage system, the new IBM XIV, Recarta IT beat off fierce competition from Compellent. The steadfast and consultative approach adopted by the Recarta IT, supported by Avnet and IBM teams, helped secure the highest number of IBM XIV units sold into a single UK account to-date. “The main driving factor for the implementation was the need to split the IT infrastructure to allow for a de-merger of the Banking and Trust Business Units” said Sales Director Toby Harris. “The customer were experiencing challenges with their existing storage infrastructure. They needed efficiency, rapid throughput, more capacity and better manageability. Further investigation and a demonstration of IBM's new XIV technology put this solution in the frame. A solution comprising of XIV, System X and VMware would allow the customer to overcome their immediate data challenges and also provide the platform to expand as they grow as a new organisation.”
This win, in the current climate, is further evidence the new IBM XIV Storage System can help customers deploy a market-leading information infrastructure that is reliable, versatile and available, while offering financially measurable improvements in storage management, provisioning and improved asset utilisation.
